Artworks of Pavel Filonov, a Russian Avant-Garde Painter (1883-1941) who did not change his painting style under Soviet Rule and so could not support himself. He died of hunger during the siege of Leningrad.
In the early 1900s, Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky came upon the little market town of Murnau in the Alpine foothills in Bavaria. Kandinsky and artist Gabriele Münter soon bought a small house at the western edge of the village. The house was called "The Russian House" by the local inhabitants.
