Ukiyo-e (Pictures of the Floating World) was a Japanese art form in which the tastes and activities and interests of well-to-do Japanese were depicted. This art was prevalent during the Edo Period (1615-1868).
53 paintings made by Japanese artist Utagawa Hiroshige in the 1830s depicting "stations" between Tokyo and Kyoto. These "stations" were apparently roughly equivalent to "bed and breakfast" inns.
